Mississauga /ˌmɪsɪˈsɒɡə/ ( listen)[note 1] is a city in the Canadian province of Ontario. Situated in Southern Ontario, it lies on the shores of Lake Ontario in the Regional Municipality of Peel. It is part of the Greater Toronto Area, to the west of Toronto. The city has a population of 721,599 as of the Canada 2016 Census, and is Canada's sixth-most populous municipality.
